Spectacular Maciel Style
Extra-wide Mexican Silver Repousse
Figural Cuff Bracelet

Contact us about this piece.

Having come to be identified with the Maciel taller, which produced some of the most amazing examples, repousse cuff bracelets are among the most representative forms of vintage Deco Mexican silver jewelry. Their imaginative designs and meticulous ornamentation are duly appreciated by both dedicated collectors and lover of high quality hand-crafted pieces.

Though not signed by its maker, the extra-wide bracelet offered here (I would probably call it an arm-band rather than a cuff!) has double figural decoration and is a stunning piece to look at and to wear. Fantastic patina and great workmanship in a rare to find design and size.

The cuff has an inner circumference of 7 1/2" at mid-height (including the 1 1/4" gap). It is 3 1/4" tall and weighs 88.0 grams. Not marked but guaranteed of at least 900 silver, it dates in the 1930s-40s and is in very good vintage condition. Please note that there seems to be an old reinforcement on the bracelet's inner surface; possibly to avoid damage through constant re-adjustments of the cuff's opening. The bracelet is very strong nonetheless and does not show any signs of stress - since it is made of thicker gauge silver sheet, however, I would not recommend trying to change its inner circumference dramatically.
