Enrique Ledesma Mexican silver and azurite Necklace ~ Taxco modernist design

on Nov 8, 2015 in Mexican and Latin American, Necklaces

ledesmaneckl1

Gorgeous Enrique Ledesma Taxco modernist necklace seamlessly marrying sterling silver with azurite in the maestro’s signature style. The stone is rich in green hues and the necklace looks perfect accompanied by its matching bracelet with which it is pictured in the first photo (also available on this site). Quite often Ledesma’s necklaces are relatively short but the example at hand has a custom-made extender that adds valuable length to it making it comfortable for most of us. The extension is made of sterling silver, very easy to clasp and unclasp, and does not interfere at all with the necklace’s design since it sits on the back of the neck…

Size/Weight: 17  1/4″ long (wearable, with the extension; original wearable length is 15  1/2″); width between 5/8″ and 3/8″; 53.3 grams that goes up to 59.5 grams with the extension

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature as shown above “TAXCO” as well as “HECHO EN MEXICO”, “925”, des. no 218 and Eagle 3 assay mark; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with rich color and veining in the stone inlay that is all there without any issues, great patina and the added length of the sterling extension

Offered at $635.00
