Stunning Fred Davis design
Mexican Silver and Amethyst
Maltese Cross Necklace

Contact us about this piece.

Based on one of Fred Davis's celebrated "book-piece" designs a "Maltese Cross" sterling silver and amethyst necklace with powerful presence and some of the most amazing gems I have ever seen!

Carefully cut out of thick gauge silver sheet the crosses are embellished with two sizes of repousse semi-spheres and held together with sturdy, flattened connectors. I love the fold-over clasp, which is exactly what Davis used on his pieces as well.

The necklace is 18" long by 1 1/4" wide and sits divinely around the neck. Each gem has a diameter of about 9/16" and is at least 1/4" thick at the center of the dome - these are big, showy stones. The piece's total weight comes up to 108.8 grams. Signed simply "MEXICO STERLING", it dates in the 1930s-40s and is in excellent vintage condition
