Vintage silver and tiger’s eye necklace by Erika Hult de Corral, one of the few known female Taxco designers (and a modernist at that!) with studies in Paris and apprenticeships in the workshops of both Ledesma and Sigi Pineda. I love Ric’s jewelry for the fluidity of lines and her unique way of marrying sterling with hard stones. Slick and often minimalist, her pieces can nevertheless border on the massive and are steadily growing in popularity among collectors…

 

Size/Weight: 15  3/4″ inner circumference (clasped); width between 3/4″ at center front and 1/8″ at its narrowest, next to the clasp; 57.0 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature “Ric” in script as well as “TAXCO S.A.”, “HECHO EN MEXICO”, “925”, des. no 432 and Eagle 1 assay mark; 1960s-70s

Condition: excellent vintage with a warmly colored stone, great patina and no flaws noted
