25″ long Mexican Deco silver and caged azurite Necklace

on Sep 7, 2018 in archived

At more than 25″ long this vintage Mexican Deco necklace consists of tumbled, richly colored azurite stones caged in sterling silver. Stone necklaces of this kind are very popular and even though the ones made after 1980 are not so difficult to come upon, early examples like the one I am presenting here are rare and of much better quality. Just look at the saturated green/blues of the azurite, the thickness of the silver oval connectors and the generous gauge of the sterling wire holding each stone captive in its setting. Wear it alone or combine it with similar necklaces of varying lengths, the result will be breath-taking every single time…

Size/Weight: 25  3/4″ long; approx. 1/2″ wide (some stones are wider, some are a little narrower); 64.8 grams
