34″ long Mexican Deco silver caged tumbled amethyst Chain Necklace

Dating in the pre-1948 period this Mexican sterling-caged tumbled amethyst chain necklace is generously long and lends itself to being combined with similar pieces. Yet the slickness of the stones with their color variation and their natural inclusions allows it to stand alone quite as easily and adorn that smart “little black dress” as well. I am very partial to chain necklaces of this type, especially the older ones because of the quality of the stones and the thickness of the sterling wire used to cage them. And the maestro who made this particular example, listed though still among the unidentified ones, seems to have specialized in this form as I have had similar necklaces with his signature in the past…

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s initials “SHC” as well as “MEXICO 925”; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage with glistening amethysts and no damage or repairs noted
