Antonio Pineda Mexican 970 silver obsidian dangle Earrings

on Oct 5, 2020 in Mexican and Latin American, Rings/earrings

Perfectly carved obsidian teardrops with shimmering golden depths and high purity silver combine in this modernist Antonio Pineda set of dangle earrings. There is an innate elegance in the way the silver embraces the volcanic glass, like slender flames of a hot fire emanating from black coals. In the darkness, you only see the silver; in the light it is only the obsidian that catches the eye. Antonio at one of his best moments, I believe…

Size / Weight: 1 3/4″ long by just shy of 5/8″ wide; 15.6 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: partially stamped yet there Antonio’s crown as well as Eagle 17 assay mark; 1950s-60s

Condition: very good vintage with inspired design and a combination of materials that never fails to impress, with great patina and eye-catching golden depths in the obsidian; as you can see, there is a small chip off one dangle – it is not offensive to the eye and does not attract attention yet it is there and has been taken into account in my pricing
