Bold repousse, deeply oxidized recesses and a sculptural by inception design combine in this stunning Mexican Deco sterling silver demi comprised of a necklace and matching earrings. Bearing the initials habitually attributed to Antonio Reina, this is a superb example of its maker’s mastery over the art of repoussage – I could never exaggerate its visual impact nor could I even come close to describing the warm, glowing patina the set has developed over its long life…
Size/Weight: necklace is 16 1/4″ (wearable; actual length just shy of 17″; it can easily accept an extension, should you need it) by 3/4″ wide; earrings are just shy of 1 1/2″ tall by 3/4″ wide; 58.6 grams (for the set; 49.3 grams for necklace alone)
Hallmarks / Date: Reina’s initials “AAR” on earrings and “STERLING TAXCO MEXICO” with des. no 4 on necklace; 1940s
Condition: excellent vintage with bold, masterful repoussage, strong visual impact, great patina and no damage or repairs noted
