Carmen Beckmann Mexican silver modernist Necklace ~ Spratling style DNA design

on Jul 19, 2016 in archived

Vintage Carmen Beckmann Mexican sterling silver necklace, this piece is based on Spratling’s modernist DNA design. One of the few accomplished female designers within the field of Taxco jewelry that we know about, Beckmann worked in the 1960s and 1970s in San Miguel de Allende creating pieces in a wide range of styles and some of her designs are truly exceptional. Generously long and hence comfortable for most of us, the necklace at hand features a woven chain made of thick sterling wire and perfectly shaped spheres. And the best part? It can easily be adjusted so you can enjoy it as a choker or take advantage of its full matinee length…

Size/Weight: 23  1/4″ long by approx. 5/8″ wide; 141.4 grams

Hallmarks / Date: Beckmann’s signature as shown as well as “STERLING” and “MEXICO”; 1960s-70s

Condition: excellent vintage, quite impressive and comfortably long, with no flaws nor repairs noted
