Based on a very difficult (and hence quite pricey) Matilde Poulat design, the Deco Mexican silver ring I am presenting here is signed by CEL, a well-listed yet still unidentified early maestro. CEL belonged in the Mexico City school of jewelry-making and all his work that I have handled is based on original Poulat creations. His craftsmanship, attention to detail and the quality of materials he used resulted in pieces that are unfailingly en par with Matl jewelry and offer the perfect alternative to her difficult to get pieces. The “palomas” ring at hand with its gorgeous repoussage, classy beading and the splash of color added by turquoise, coral and amethyst cabs illustrates in the best way CEL’s mastery over his art…
