Deco Mexican silver repousse Dragons Necklace and Earrings set ~ Los Castillo design

on Sep 4, 2015 in Mexican and Latin American, Necklaces

Emulating the Los Castillo “Chinese Dragons” necklace which was most probably created by Margot de Taxco when she was still married to Antonio Castillo, a repousse necklace and earrings set for that “dragon lady” in your life! Very good detail, careful finishing and generous length for those of us like our necklaces a little more comfortable than the Deco choker sizes…

Size/Weight: 21″ long (you could easily have it taken down to 18″ by removing one link on either side); central “dragons” part is 3  1/8″ wide by 1  5/8″ tall; width at the chain is 1/2″ (at its widest); earrings are 1  1/4″ tall by 3/4″ wide; 56.0 grams (for the set; necklace alone is 46.0 grams)

Hallmarks / Date: “MEXICO 925” albeit partially visible on the necklace and “SILVER MEXICO” on the earrings; 1940s

Condition: excellent vintage with very nicely executed repoussage and oxidation that adds dimension and visual impact to the design; perfect finishing, great patina and no flaws noted

Offered at $450.00
