From the renowned Zolotas “house of jewelry” first established in Athens, Greece in 1895, a vintage beaded necklace wrought of gold plated 950 silver. Generous in length and weight, this piece epitomizes the quality and design savvy the Zolotas signature is associated with. The necklace is comprised of beads based on ancient Greek motifs. Almost flat on four sides, they are held together with thick twist-rope connectors. I love the way the gold plating has mellowed over the years thus bestowing a more discrete, well-aged elegance to the necklace.
Size/Weight: 30 1/2″ long by 7/16″ wide; 84.9 grams
Hallmarks / Date: “ZOLOTAS” and “950” as well as bearing the house’s logo albeit partly stamped along with number “64”; difficult to date with accuracy but based on the hallmarks, I would suggest 1960s-70s
Condition: excellent vintage with no flaws noted and the gold plating having mellowed over time
