For the lovers of Fred Davis’s design genius, an almost full parure comprised of sterling silver repousse necklace, bracelet and brooch adorned with big amethyst cabochons. It is such a treat to come upon sets that have stayed together all these years and I am happy to say that all pieces in this one bear Davis’s signature, which is usually not the case with his parures. Fleshy, confident repoussage, amazing variety in the color and inclusions of the stones, and generous length with the necklace make this a real treasure to be loved, enjoyed and duly appreciated…
Size/Weight: necklace is 17 1/2” long (wearable; once clasped, it becomes just a tad roomier, maybe 17 3/4”); central part with amethysts is 6” wide with a drop of 2”; 103.1 grams; bracelet is 7 1/4” long by 1 5/8” wide; 87.4 grams; brooch is 2 5/8” wide by 1 7/8” tall; 33.3 grams
Hallmarks / Date: all three pieces are marked with maker’s signature as shown as well as “SILVER MEXICO”; 1930s-40s
Condition: excellent vintage with no damage or repairs in the silverwork, all the stones securely in place, with interesting color variation and the clouding that Mexican amethyst is known for; one of the stones in the necklace had a small inclusion that popped but it’s on the side of the cab, does not attract attention and seems to be very stable
