Hilario Lopez Mexican silver repousse Clamper Bracelet ~ Margot de Taxco design

on Sep 25, 2018 in archived

Vintage Mexican Hilario Lopez silver clamper bracelet in a design easily recognized as a Margot de Taxco creation, this is a wonderful example of the accomplished maestro’s work and a very easy clamper to wear. For years Lopez worked for Margot and after the dissolution of her taller, he was among the maestros who inherited some of her molds and designs. It is his familiarity with her work and his impeccable craftsmanship that makes Lopez’s jewelry desirable as alternatives to Margot’s more expensive originals. I believe that with this bracelet, which seems to be heavier than most of Lopez’s pieces, Hilario came very very close to his object of inspiration…
