An astonishing Los Ballesteros Mexican silver modernist bracelet in the type of hinged bangles the workshop excelled in producing, this is a design I have never encountered before and it is literally “crowned” by the hugest quartz gem ever! The gem’s color is the smokiest, deepest “whiskey” – one can feel oneself sinking in its alluring depths yet still not be able to take one’s eyes off it. The setting housing it raises it proudly above the arm while also protecting it with its generous proportions and its thickness. The wide sterling “wings” are ridged and the patina that has darkened the recessed areas where the ridges connect bestows a sensual sculpturality to an otherwise bare-bones bangle. Stupendous…
