Maciel style Mexican Deco silver repousse Cuff Bracelet ~ Sun Disk and Aztec Roses

on Mar 31, 2019 in Bracelets, Mexican and Latin American

Early Deco Mexico City repousse cuff bracelet wrought in 900 silver in the style associated with Maciel and Sanborn’s, this is a generously wide and quite bold in its repoussage piece. As classic as it could ever be, it combines two of the iconic motifs that dominate the genre. At center front the Aztec Sun Disk pushes out of the thick silver sheet as if rushing to meet you while flanking on either side are big, bold Aztec roses depicted at the time of their full glory. Fantastic…

Size/Weight: 7″ inner circumference (including the 3/4″ gap; relatively adjustable but I would exert caution if trying to do it so as not to damage the cuff) by 1 7/8″ wide; 52.2 grams

Hallmarks / Date: marked with a badly stamped maker’s signature and “0900” as well as “MADE IN MEXICO” (I only saw the hallmarks when I was working on the photos – you can see the latter in the picture showing the back of the cuff and for the former, I guaranteed you that it’s there); 1930s

Condition: excellent vintage, wrought out of thick silver sheet that has protected it from dings and dents, quite generous in width and boasting bold, pronounced repoussage; great patina and no damage nor any repairs noted

Offered at $215.00
