Wrought in high purity, 980 silver this Mexican Deco brooch bears the signature of Margarita, a retail shop in Taxco that, according to Bille Hougart, carried work by many local maestros, Isidro Garcia Pina being one among them. Even though one does not come upon pieces by Margarita very often, the few examples I have had over the years were beautifully made and had interesting designs. The brooch at hand is no exception – the silver has a silky feel to it, the amethyst teardrops at the end of the stamens are richly colored and the flower itself comes to life with deeply chased details…
