Margot de Taxco Mexican silver Necklace ~ majestic repousse pectoral no 5161

on Oct 5, 2017 in Mexican and Latin American, Necklaces

Majestic Margot de Taxco sterling silver necklace, this is des. no 5161 in its pectoral form which I find irresistible. An ode to Margot’s exceptional creativity, the necklace combines sculptural repoussage, strategically placed beading and riveting that results in a divine piece of jewelry which holds its place elegantly and looks regal…

Size/Weight: wearable length adjustable between 15 1/4″ and 18 1/4″ (with the sterling extension provided); pectoral part is 7 3/4″ long by 1 3/4″ wide; 83.5 grams (with extension – 81.7 grams necklace alone)

Hallmarks / Date: fully and appropriately signed with Margot’s logo as shown as well as Eagle 16 assay mark and des. no 5161; 1950s

Condition: excellent vintage with the quality that Margot jewelry is known and collected for, great patina and no damage noted; I suspect that the hook of the clasp might be a replacement and if so, I have to say that it blends seamlessly in with the chain links and works perfectly
