Stunning Matilde Poulat bracelet in her signature “Paloma” design yet in a rare for Matl cuff form. It is getting rather difficult to find such early examples of Matilde’s work as both collectors and discerning well-dressers are on the look out for her jewelry. Here, as with all Matilde pieces, the craftsmanship is of the highest quality, the repousse “earthy” and confident and the attention to detail unsurpassable. It is no wonder that Poulat ranks at the top of Mexico’s Deco designers. A veritable collector’s pride and an extremely rare cuff.
Size/Weight: inner circumference of 6 1/2″ (including the 7/8″ gap; perfect for smaller to medium size wrists); applied dove is 1 3/4″ tall by 2″ wide; width at the cuff’s band is 7/8″; 36.8 grams
Hallmarks/Date: Matl’s name in script as shown as well as “925”; 1934-48
Condition: excellent vintage with fleshy, proud repousse and great patina; there seems to be a tiny opening in the seam between the bird’s body and its lower talon; it is very difficult to locate with a naked eye (negligible indeed) and something that adds character more than takes away from the bracelet’s beauty
