Matl style Mexican silver repousse zodiac Clamper Bracelet ~ Aquarius

on Sep 4, 2015 in archived

Vintage Mexican silver clamper bracelet, this is a very rare form as far as zodiac jewelry is concerned within the specific field. Signed by a maestro who is appreciated for his repousse work it celebrates the sign of Aquarius. The clamper’s style and its workmanship are closely related to Matilde Poulat and the Mexico City school even though this piece was made in Taxco. I cannot get over the amazing patina the bracelet has developed over the years and the way its figural motif stands proud of the stippled and oxidized background in the central medallion. A unique, beautifully made clamper…
