Mexican Deco multi-row silver and black onyx glass beaded Bracelet

on Jun 24, 2019 in archived

Most commonly found with turquoise cabs this type of Mexican Deco silver hinged bracelets is among the most sought after designs. Made up of rows and rows of repousse semi-spheres and overlaid with additional rows of bezel-set stone or glass cabochons, they are a pleasure to wear and they have a powerful visual impact. The medium-width example I am presenting here is rather more difficult to come upon because the cabs are made of black glass. When one thinks about it, what color combination is more Deco than silver and black?

Size/Weight: 7″ inner circumference; 1 1/8″ wide; 54.8 grams

Hallmarks / Date: simply marked “MEXICO SILVER”; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage – I don’t even see any of the light dings that can usually be found in these bracelets around their perimeter – with nice patina, all the black cabs securely in place, with no damage or any repairs noted
