Mexican Deco silver turquoise multi-row repousse beaded Bracelet

on Apr 25, 2020 in archived

Most probably made in Mexico City, this Art Deco silver beauty is one of those designs that never lose their appeal and continue to be sought out decades after they first came out of the workshop. I have said in the past that I am obsessed with this type of repousse beaded hinged bangles. I love them in all their various widths, with all the stones they can be found, and I can never keep them for long! The example I am presenting here is of medium width, with rows of turquoise cabs laid over the silver semi-spheres of the front “wing”. The patina is exquisite, the color of the stones almost sage green, and the shape of the bracelet is oval – an unexpected departure from the usual round that makes it so more comfortable to wear…

Size/Weight: inner circumference just shy of 6 3/4″ (clasped); 1″ wide; 36.5 grams

Hallmarks / Date: “SILVER MEXICO” albeit partially stamped; pre-1948

Condition: very good vintage with great patina, beautiful color in the stones that has aged uniformly, with no unsightly damage nor any repairs noted except for a couple of light, non offensive impressions in the lower row of semi-spheres which is expected with bracelets in this design
