Pre-1948 Los Ballesteros Mexican silver hinged bracelet featuring a big, faceted simulated alexandrite and graduated repousse semi-sphreres. I am particularly fond of this specific form in the taller’s production and I believe that Los Ballesteros in fact excelled in designing and crafting these “hinged bangles”, as I like to refer to them. Here, the assymetry in the bracelet’s two ends, as they meet in the front, brings to mind Japanese aesthetics which Margot de Taxco had already introduced in Taxco’s design vocabulary…
