mod Taller Taxco Mexican silver Necklace in a Salvador Teran design

on Oct 10, 2014 in archived

Whether Taller Taxco is related to Salvador Teran is still unclear yet the mod sterling necklace I am presenting here is definitely based on a Teran design. This is a very versatile piece – in fact, you get two necklaces in  one since the pendant can easily be removed and the choker worn by itself. One of Teran’s most “industrial” yet at the same time “tribal” creations and a difficult to find necklace, its execution by Taller Taxco at hand is masterful and incredibly true to the original. Taxco modernism at its best…

Size/Weight: 15  3/8″ long (might wear just a tad shorter due to the thickness of the beaded elements in the chain); pendant itself is 2  1/2″ tall by 1  1/2″ wide; 91.8 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature as shown and “STERLING” (double-stamped) alongside des. no 141; mid-1940s

Condition: excellent vintage with no flaws noted and great patina – a very difficult necklace to find

SOLD – Thank you!
