Vividly colored, with fantastic patina, this vintage Deco Mexican silver and amethyst bracelet is a hinged piece and quite the treat! I am very partial to this form of jewelry. I call them hinged bangles because they do wear like a bangle but you don’t have to squeeze your hand through them thanks to the luxury of their hinged construction. And the ones like this, with their row after row of repoussse semi-spheres topped with bezel-set stones are a special treasure. In our case, the cabs are amethysts and, at a bigger size, they hide the clasp that is in the bracelet’s front…
Size/Weight: 6 7/8″ inner circumference (clasped); width between 1 1/2″ at center front and 1″; 50.0 grams
Hallmarks / Date: simply marked “STERLING MEXICO”; pre-1948
Condition: very good vintage with great patina, beautiful stones with strong color that sit safely in their bezels with no cracks or breaks and no unsightly damage except for a couple of impressions in the repousse semi-spheres which is always expected in this type of bracelets; when I received this piece, it had a very bad, old repair on the inside with a soldered on piece of metal, which I had my jeweler remove and rework; the bracelet is now solid and almost as good as … new (except it’s old!); laser technology can truly work miracles yet the repair is still reflected in my pricing
SOLD – Thank you!
