rare Gerardo Lopez Mexican silver Cuff Bracelet ~ Taxco Arts and Crafts with azur malachite

on May 29, 2016 in archived

An imaginative Taxco maestro whose jewelry is steadily growing in appreciation among collectors in the last few years, Gerardo Lopez is known for his repousse pectorals and clampers. Yet to find a cuff bracelet bearing his signature is a rare occurrence and I am thrilled to be presenting here this stunning hand-hammered example. Having a distinct Arts-and-Crafts quality, the cuff is wide and adorned with teardrop bezel-set azur malachite stones separated by voluminous “dimpled dot” appliques. Craftsmanship of the highest caliber, attention to the minutest detail and wonderful patina combine with the rarity of this piece to elevate it to the dedicated Lopez and Taxco collector’s level…
