I love brooches and this Mexican Deco carved leaf is simply divine. I find the carving so enticingly tactile – you just want to run your fingers along the curves, the dips and rises is the stone. And what about that color? The stone is semi-translucent and the light that passes through it bestows a lightness upon it that is not a quality stones are usually associated with. This could be a leaf in those magic maples lining the streets in my home town that have turned amber red as fall approaches…

Hallmarks / Date: “SILVER MEXICO”; 1930s-40s

Condition: excellent vintage with beautifully sculptural carving in the stone, amazing color, strong presence, with no unsightly damage nor any repairs except for a couple of expected tiny flea-bites around the stone’s edges that are only visible upon very close inspection with a jeweler’s loupe
