slick Niels Erik From Danish silver cascading circles Collar Necklace

on Nov 9, 2019 in Necklaces, US/European

Fantastic late 1960s – 1970s, I believe based on style, modernist sterling silver and ribbon long cascading circles collar necklace signed by Niels Erik From of Denmark. Scandinavian jewelry is one of my favorite genres – I love the slick, innovative design, the bold minimalism and the “honesty” of materials used so I am always on the look out for good examples. The collar necklace at hand is a stunning creation with its four sets of tangent circles cascading down the collar bone, hanging off an ax-form station at the top. The sterling component is presently accompanied by two lengths of cream-colored ribbon that tie at the back of the neck yet those can easily be changed for black velvet or whatever it is you like. Very unusual and quite a rare necklace by From to come upon – and from what I understand, this type of collar necklace is really really popular again…

Size/Weight: sterling part is 3 1/8″ wide or E to W (slightly curved to better fit the neck) by 5 1/4″ long (including the cascade of circles); ribbon lengths are 18 3/8″ long on each side; 30.5 grams

Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with From’s name as well as “STERLING DENMARK” and “925S”; late 1960s-1970s

Condition: excellent vintage with fantastic style, great presence, with nice patina and no damage or repairs noted; one of the slickest necklaces I have seen in a long time!
