Lovely modernist studio made sterling silver floral brooch in a design that combines stylization and naturalist elements while incorporating black onyx and bakelite cabochons. The colors here are magnificent – the freshness of the sage green combines with the mature amber, their richness offset by the glistening black of the onyx. I love the way the artist has crafted the leaves, bending them this way and that; and the beefy tendrils mirror the heftiness of the bezels around the cabs. Spring should be around the corner, shouldn’t it?
