Signed by A. Porkayo a nicely made Mexican silver necklace and earrings set in Hector Aguilar’s “armadillo” design. A listed maestro, Porkayo has really outdone himself with this demi. Great patina that seems to be original and oxidation (you can always buff it a little bit but I did not want to touch it!) bring out the set’s curvaceous beauty. This is a substantial duo with the necklace generously heavy and at a comfortable for most 17″ long, it boasts a careful riveted construction with graduated links. The matching earrings are an added bonus since they are not so easy to find. A gorgeous set worthy of the best collection…
Size/Weight: 17″ long (wearable) with a width varying between 1 3/8″ and 7/8″ for the necklace; earrings are 1 1/8″ tall by 7/8″ wide; 126.2 grams (for the set; necklace alone is 116.6 grams while earrings are 9.6 grams)
Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature as shown as well as “STERLING TAXCO MEX” alonside Eagle 3 assay mark on the necklace; earrings are simply marked “SILVER MEXICO”; 1950s-60s
