set of 3 Mexican silver Bangle Bracelets ~ coral, green calcite, black onyx

By in archived |

Colorful, musical, a joy to wear and to behold, this set of 3 Mexican sterling silver bangle bracelets brings together two different periods in Taxco’s silversmithing history. Very popular in the 1950s and 1960s, bangles of this type continued to be made after 1980 and I would suggest that as a rule of thumb, the later examples tend to be heavier and not as delicate as the older ones. In the case of our assembled set, red coral and dyed calcite adorn the slender bracelets while the heftier one boasts three black cabs, either onyx or glass but I can’t be sure relying on the naked eye only. I do think, however, that the trio looks like it was meant to be together, the wire-work hearts flanking the coral and calcite providing the perfect company for the squiggles guarding the black cabs…   Size/Weight: inner diameter 2 1/2″; slender ones are 3/16″ wide...
