vintage Mexican silver overlay Necklace ~ bold Taxco arrows and scrolls design

By in archived |

Simply hallmarked with Eagle 22 which was used by several Taxco maestros including F. Davis, A. Paz and A. Pineda himself, a bold sterling silver overlay necklace with dramatic arrow and scroll links. This is a very well made piece in a design that is quite unusual and the deep oxidized recesses of the overlay make it feel and look three-dimensional. Striking, at least, it looks fabulous with its matching bracelet which I will be presenting shortly… Learn more Size/Weight: 17″ long (wearable) by just shy of 1  1/2″ wide; 67.9 grams Hallmarks / Date: simply marked “MEXICO STERLING” alongside Eagle 22 assay mark; 1950s-60s Condition: excellent vintage with striking presence and in a very unusual design; very well made, carefully finished, with great patina and no problems noted SOLD – Thank you! Erika Hult de Corral Mexican silver Necklace ~ Taxco modernist design

One of the few known female Taxco designers and a modernist at that, Erika Hult de Corral can be riveting – and I think the line of necklaces and earrings in which the piece at hand belongs is one of her exceptional moments. Dramatically elongated bi-cone tubes, spheres pitted and oxidized that look like fragments of the moon’s crater-scape and an impressive medallion combine in a long necklace with just the right touch of brutalism… Learn more Size/Weight: 27 1/2″ long; medallion is 1 7/8″ tall by 1 3/16″ wide; 69.4 grams Hallmarks / Date: maker’s “Ric” signature in script and “TAXCO” as well as Eagle 3 assay mark; 1960s-70s Condition: excellent vintage with no flaws noted, great patina and stunning looks SOLD – Thank you! Erika Hult de Corral modernist Mexican silver Necklace ~ Ric moonscapes

By in archived |

A talented modernist designer, Erika Hult de Corral is one of the few known Taxco females, and her jewelry is becoming all the more collectible as the years pass. I particularly like her “moonscape” pieces, like the necklace presented here. Comprised of a long chain with heavily “pitted” and oxidized beads, tubular links and a central medallion that brings all these elements together, it is an ode to modernism with a touch of brutalism…   Size/Weight: 25  1/2″ long (wearable); pendant is just above 2″ tall by 15/16″ wide (at the top); 50.0 grams Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature “Ric” in script as well as Eagle 3 assay mark; 1960s-70s Condition: excellent vintage with great patina and no flaws noted   SOLD – Thank you!
