Here, as with all Matilde pieces, the craftsmanship is of the highest quality. The repoussage is strong and pronounced, executed with the unique boldness and attention to detail that can only be found in Poulat’s early works. Please note the way the cuff has been constructed – the bird is not simply applied onto the cuff; the two parts are “melded” together, as the cuff in effect provides the repousse bird with its back and has been hand-cut to absolutely follow the “paloma’s” contour.
