Early and substantial, a William Spratling cuff bracelet wrought in 980 silver in the “Nahui Ollin” or “Four Movements” design pictured in Penny Morrill’s, Maestros de Plata, on p. 60. In the book the variation shown has amethyst cabs while here the example is all-silver. This is a bold and beautiful piece, with deep hand-etched, dramatically oxidized designs and generously sized flattened repousse domes. Its patina is beyond description – it has an inner glow that only 980 silver can develop over the years. Maximiliano Mondragon Mexican fertility bracelet wrought in 980 silver which seems to have been favored by this early Taxco maestro. Warm patina, perfect design execution and good weight bespeak its maker’s attention to detail and dedication to perfection.
