Margot de Taxco Mexican silver enamel Pin Brooch ~ the fan dancer

By in archived |

Within the realm of Deco Egyptian Revival jewelry albeit toward the very end of the period this Margot de Taxco silver and enamel figural brooch glows like molten gold under the sun. The rich hue of the exotic dancer’s attire is set off dramatically against chocolate skin and the sky blue jewels around the figure’s neck and on the ears are reflected in the fabric and the fans as well. Masterful and enigmatic – is this a man or a woman?   Size/Weight: 1  3/4″ tall by 1  3/8″ wide; 13.3 grams Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature albeit only partially stamped as well as Eagle 16 assay mark and des. no 5708; 1950s Condition: very good vintage with an amazing inner glow that will sweep you off your feet, exhibiting all the characteristics that make Margot jewelry avidly collected, with the enamel in great shape – no cracks or breaks, just a very...

classic Margot de Taxco Mexican silver Necklace ~ des no 5337 Curling line

By in archived |

Published in Penny Morrill’s latest book on Margot de Taxco’s enamel work, the so called “Curling Lines” necklace is one of her most loved designs and definitely a piece that epitomizes her understanding of femininity and elegance. Deeply sculpted repousse links that bring to mind feathers dotted with perfect silver beads, lead to a gorgeous central piece where the silver twists and twirls like waves in the sea. Craftsmanship of the highest level, attention to detail and perfect finishing are all present here – as is always the case with Margot jewelry. A stunning necklace, impervious to fashion whims – isn’t that what makes a classic?   Size/Weight: 15  1/2″ long (wearable; possibly even 15  3/4″ due to the curve in the central link); 3/8″ wide at the chain; central link is 2  7/8″ wide with a total drop of approx....

Margot de Taxco Mexican silver Bracelet and Earrings set ~ des no 5247

One of my favorite Margot de Taxco all-silver designs, the beaded, undulating links of “5247” exude an unsurpassed sense of motion and their architecturality is only enhanced with patina as the years go by. The bracelet and matching earrings set at hand is a find for the collector – especially since the bracelet is not an easy piece to come upon. And it’s a pleasure to wear…   Size/Weight: 6  3/4″ inner circumference (clasped) by 7/8″ wide (at its widest) for the bracelet; 7/8″ by 13/16″ for the earrings; 81.1 grams (for the set; bracelet alone is 68.7 grams Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature as shown on the bracelet as well as “STERLING MADE IN MEXICO” and des. no 5247; the matching earrings have Eagle 16 and des. no only; 1950s Condition: excellent vintage with substantial presence, patina to die for and...

Vintage Margot de Taxco Mexican silver necklace and earrings demi, this is a delicate, discretely feminine design and it’s perfect for the hot days of summer.
