Topazio style Portuguese 835 silver hinged Bracelet ~ harvest motifs

Made after the mid-1980s yet following in the tradition of Portuguese hinged bangles from the Deco years this bracelet is wrought in .835 silver and decorated profusely with “harvest” motifs. Luscious fruits, flowers in full bloom and sheaves of ripe cereals run the bracelet’s full length with patina and oxidation bringing out their sculptural quality and allowing the raised surfaces to glow. early Rafael Melendez Taxco 980 silver and turquoise Bracelet ~ a Mexican Deco treasure

An early Taxco maestro and one of Spratling’s first silversmiths, Rafael Melendez worked in fine, 980 silver and his pre-1948 pieces are usually crafted out of heavy silver sheet with deeply chased details and a strong pre-Colombian feel to them. The bracelet at hand, decorated with a beautiful turquoise cabochon that has mellowed into a greenish blue over the years, has a pin closure to attest to its early age as well.
