The first in a series of fabulous vintage Portuguese silver repousse bracelets I will be presenting in the next few weeks, this hinged bangle commands an impressive presence not only because of its architecturality but also due to the fantastic patina it has developed over the years. Accentuated by the darkened background, the meticulously worked floral and acanthus motifs look as if they float above a sea of old sterling and their detail is such that it captures the eye even at a distance. Dating in the tail end of the Deco years as is evidenced by the pyramidal shape of its sections, the bracelet nevertheless bears traces of Revival jewelry with its prominent use of the acanthus…

Hallmarks / Date: marked “925” with a additional assay hallmarks that though definitely Portuguese are not clear enough to my eyes to associate with a specific city; 1940s-50s
Condition: excellent vintage with amazing workmanship that is attested to by the crispness and richness of the design, having fantastic patina and architectural presence, with the added security of a safety clip and no damage or repairs noted
