Enrique Ledesma Mexican silver azur-malachite Brooch

An iconic creation for Enrique Ledesma, this design can be found in all jewelry forms and with various stones. There is something very sculptural in the way the stone is cut that bestows an irresistible tactile quality to it and the case of the brooch at hand is no exception. Predominantly green with sage overtones yet not lacking rich blues and more muted browns, the azur-malachite is securely set in its warmly glowing silver frame. Distinctly angular, the stone’s shape is mitigated by the sweeping curves in the silver-work…

Size / Weight: 2 1/4” tall by 1 3/8” wide; 16.9 grams

Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with maker’s name as shown as well as “TAXCO”, “HECHO EN MEXICO”, “925” and also bearing des. no 204 and Eagle 3 assay mark; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with soothing colors in the azur-malachite, a stone free of chips or cracks and breaks, with nice patina (you can always buff it up a little); no damage but please note that I had the pin closure’s clasp replaced (the original was missing its safety roll-over)
