Mexican Deco silver and jade sacred heart Necklace

Directly out of the Spanish Colonial tradition that infused Mexican folk art with Christian symbolism, this Deco silver necklace features a big carved “flaming heart” as its central station. A very popular milagro design, the flaming heart represents the “sacre coeur” of Catholicism, Jesus’s divine love for all humanity. Carved out of luscious green Mexican “jade” the heart in our necklace is truly a small sculpture. I find the stones’ color variation fascinating, a testament to the “folky” air surrounding this piece. Thick silver links in the “archeological” style and smaller ones with beading complete the silver work that frames the stones. A very rare to find necklace and breath-takingly beautiful…
