William Kerr silver and turquoise "fantasy" Pendant Necklace

$0.00
SOLD

The second of two antique William Kerr conversion pieces I was lucky enough to stumble upon earlier this summer, this “fantasy” pendant started its life as one half of a belt buckle. It has lost its pair since as well as the bar that held the hallmarks but the design is a documented Kerr creation and the craftsmanship more than supports the attribution. Found in all silver as well as with amethyst cabs, this “green man with dolphins” design is such a classic example of the genre. Exceptional detail, patina do die for and the perfect old sterling chain that comes with it make it so hard to resist…

PS: I have added two photos showing the pendant with the signed Kerr brooch already sold - the latter has the Kerr hallmark so you can compare and contrast

Size / Weight: pendant is 2” square (without the bail); adds a 2 5/16” drop to the chain; chain itself is 20” long; 24.7 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: not marked for maker yet this is a documented Kerr design and as you can see in the photo showing it with the brooch conversion that had the hallmarks, there is no doubt that it is an original Kerr piece; tested and guaranteed to be sterling silver; ca 1900, if not earlier

Condition: excellent vintage with fantastic design and patina, no damage and no repairs noted, with one of the nicest antique chains I have had lately
