1940s Mexican silver and amethyst Pin / Pendant Necklace

A classic 1940s floral design yet so cleverly rendered, it allows you to wear it both as a necklace and as a brooch, this vintage Mexican silver and amethyst beauty is veritable eye-candy. Combination pin / pendant necklaces were very popular with Taxco maestros (Margot de Taxco, in fact, excelled in the form) but the specific way the creator of this piece came up with to achieve that result, I have never seen before. Beautiful, lusciously colored amethyst teardrops held in place with veined sterling leaves and brass prongs rest perfectly against their warmly glowing silver backdrops. The chain is simple so as not to take away any of the central station’s visual impact and it can be easily lengthened with a simple extension which I can provide, should you need it…

Size / Weight: approx. 14” long (wearable; easily extended - just ask me!); pin / pendant adds a 2 1/2” drop to the necklace and is 1 3/8” wide; 47.3 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s initials “TSL” as well as “TAXCO MEXICO 925”; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage, very inventive in its design, with gorgeous stones, a lovely, timeless design and beautiful patina; no damage and no repairs noted
