antique Victorian silver locket Pendant ~ Spring with cupids

$350.00

Beautifully worked and quite generous in size this late Victorian / Edwardian locket pendant is, I am assuming, a US-made piece since it is not hallmarked at all. Elegantly monogrammed on the back, it opens to reveal a glass-protected case for the photo of your loved one. In the front, the oval reserve holds a highly detailed representation of Spring with three cupids, very much in the spirit of Franz Zatzka's allegorical painting, while the perimeter is further decorated with impressed scrolls and tiny beading...

The chain visible in some of the photos is a prop only and not included with the pendant

Size / Weight: 2 1/8" tall (without the bail) by 1 1/2" wide; with the bail it will add a 2 3/4" drop to your chain; 18.7 grams

Hallmarks / Date: not signed for maker nor hallmarked for metal quality yet tested and guaranteed to be solid silver, most probably of sterling purity but I can't be sure; 1890s-1910s

CONDITION: excellent vintage with beautiful, easily readable to the eye detail in the figural medallion, an elegant monogram on the back, with nice patina and no damage or repairs noted

Inv# 15337
