Carmen Beckmann Mexican silver and turquoise Ring

$270.00

Surrounded by the headless body of a coiled serpent the bezel-set turquoise adorning this Carmen Beckmann ring is one of the most visually interesting specimens of the stone I have recently seen. The variations in its green color in combination with the off-whites and the intense matrix come together in a way that suggests a mountainous landscape, dark boulders looming in the back, green grass still covered with patches of snow here and there. This is not elaborate, fussy design - the materials are honest and they, in a way, speak to the spectator in their own language, narrating their own story. In my book, this is what good design is all about…

Size / Weight: sz 5.75 US (I believe a good jeweler could re-size it without damaging the hallmarks); face is 1” N-S by approx. 3/4” E-W; 3/8” rise; 12.2 grams

Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with maker’s name as well as “MEXICO” and “STERLING”; 1960-80

Condition: excellent vintage with a beautiful stone, great patina and no damage or repairs noted

Inv# 16010
