Carmen Beckmann Mexican silver star Ring

$0.00
SOLD

A favorite designer of mine, Carmen Beckmann is one of the few female contributors to Mexico’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know of. Mostly modernist, her work is known for its massive, at times, proportions (especially with her hinged bracelets) and her masterful use of semi-precious stones and gems. The star-form ring at hand is centered by a big, faceted color-change sapphire, that varies between amethyst and steely purple as the light changes. The star is raised above the similarly shaped lower platform, with cut-outs in the silver work and beading complementing the sapphire’s sparkle…

Size / Weight: sz 6 US (could be re-sized yet the jeweler would have to be careful not to damage the marks); face is 1” in diameter; approx. 1/2” rise; 11.3 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature as well as “STERLING” and “MEXICO”; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage, quite unusual in its design, impressive yet comfortable to wear, with a beautiful stone and nice patina, with no damage or repairs noted
