Eagle 17 Teran design Mexican silver Cufflinks and Tie Bar

$0.00
SOLD

I recently acquired a collection of vintage Mexican sterling silver cufflinks and tie bars and I decided to start with the most intriguing to me set. Undoubtedly based on a Salvador Teran design, I am hesitant to say that the trio is a Salvador original yet at the same time I am tempted to think so. The reason for my vacillation is the incomplete (?) hallmarking. Even though the quality and attention to detail in the design's execution is there, I can't find Salvador's signature. The rest of the marks, however, including Eagle 17 (which was used by Teran for a while - and I thank Patrick Capty of Cufflinks Galore for the information) are present and clearly stamped. Whatever the case might be, here it is - one of Taxco's most iconic modernist designs for your enjoyment...

Size / Weight: tie bar is 1 3/4" long by 7/8" wide; cufflinks are 1 1/8" by 7/8"; 34.0 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: "STERLING" and "MEXICO SILVER" alongside Eagle 17 assay mark; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with their oxidation in great shape and wonderful patina; no damage and no repairs noted
