Enrique Ledesma Mexican silver "mozaico Azteca" Ring

$0.00
SOLD

I acquired this ring a little time ago and for some reason I entered it in my inventory as being anonymous. Yet when I decided to photograph it today to list it, I realized that it bears Eagle 60 assay mark which, according to Bille Hougart, was used solely by Enrique Ledesma (see p. 215, 3rd e-edition). And I was, of course, thrilled with my discovery. I do suspect that the ring might have started its life as a button - it definitely looks like one and the way the shank is attached to the top seems to point in that direction. Whether a conversion or not, this is a rare find: how many "mozaico Azteca" rings or buttons, for that matter, have you seen with Ledesma's signature?

Size / Weight: sz 5 US (resizable by your jeweler); face is 15/16" in diameter; shy of 1/2" rise; 6.5 grams

Hallmarks / Date: Ledesma's signature is not present yet the ring is clearly stamped with Eagle 60 (which he used exclusively - see description above for reference, please) as well as "MEXICO" and "925"; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with beautiful greens and muted blues in the stone, with no damage and no repairs noted
