A rare, spectacular Erika Hult de Corral set consisting of two square sterling silver bangles with wood inlay (I believe probably rosewood) this pair is a feast for the eyes and such a treat for the vintage Mexican jewelry collector who also seeks out the few (but amazingly talented) female designers of the field. Ric (as Hult de Corral signed her pieces) studied at the Parson's School of Design in Paris and before opening her own workshop during Taxco's "middle period", she worked for both Sigi Pineda and Enrique Ledesma. I am particularly partial to her brutalist creations but this set swept me off my feet. An ode to the power of geometric motifs, the bangles combine warmly glowing curved surfaces with strong, defiant angles, using the dark brown tones of the wood to soften the metallic beauty of the silver. Great design, immaculate workmanship, honest materials - and behind all of it, a gifted female maestra...

Hallmarks / Date: maker's signature "Ric" in script as well as "TAXCO SA", "HECHO EN MEXICO 925" and Eagle 2 assay mark; 1960s-70s

Condition: excellent vintage with powerful geometry, great design, beautiful patina to both the silver and the wood, with no damage and no repairs noted - a rare, stunning set of Erika Hult de Corral bracelets
