German 800 silver and jasper Jugendstil roses Brooch

In the style of Martin Mayer, this antique German Jugendstil brooch is wrough in .800 silver and houses a huge, deeply saturated green stone (jasper, I think?) with rich black veining. What makes me associate the design with Mayer's work is his signature repousse rose, bud and leaf motifs that lovingly encircle the stone and add dimension to its flat beauty with their warmly glowing raised surfaces. Though an anonymous work the brooch is executed with mastery betraying the hand of a highly accomplished silversmith. As you can see in one of the photos, I am also offering another German piece, a pendant this time, in a similar design - don't they just look gorgeous together?

Size / Weight: 2 3/8" wide by 1 3/4" tall; 30.9 grams

Hallmarks / Date: "800" as well as the German "moon and crown" hallmark for silver; ca 1900

Condition: excellent vintage with impressive size, workmanship of the highest level, with a richly colored stone and great patina - the repoussage is simply magnificent and there is no damage or repairs noted; I am not sure if the hook on the brooch's back was supposed to have a safety roll-over but in any case, the pin works as it should and keeps the piece safely in place when you put it on
