Mexican silver and crystal glass "heart" Locket Pendant Necklace

$0.00
SOLD

Most probably inspired by rock crystal jewelry this vintage, chunky silver and clear glass locket pendant is shaped like a heart and, quite appropriately, it opens up to ... accept your loved ones. I was able to find its hallmarks on the inside of the bail thanks to an IG friend so I can now say that it is a Mexican piece. The locket came to me as you see it here, accompanied by a slick box chain of .835 purity made by the German Binder company, a very old and quite well known name in the chain necklace manufacturing world. Sweet yet still eye-catching, romantic and timeless in its appeal, a gorgeous pendant necklace that will not break the bank...

Size / Weight: pendant is 1 1/8" square (without the bail) by approx. 3/8" thick; with the bail it adds a 1 3/4" drop to the chain; chain itself is 25" long; 22.6 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: maker's initials "FBM" on the chain as shown as well as "835"; locket signed "MEXICO 925"; post-1970 for the chain, post-1990 for the locket

Condition: excellent vintage with the locket being endearingly tactile, very nicely made, with a chain that has good "body" to it, good patina and no damage or repairs noted
