heavy Mexican modernist silver and amethyst Bracelet

Sale Price:$485.00 Original Price:$600.00
sale

Very similar to one of Antonio Pineda's designs, this modernist sterling silver and amethyst bracelet is signed by a listed yet still unidentified early Taxco maestro. Formed by a series of truncated pyramidal links this is a substantial piece that holds its shape almost like a hinged bangle rather than a loosely articulated bracelet. The design's austere geometry is mediated by the rich color and soft curves of the amethyst cabs set in generously wide, raised bezels. Is there anything not to love about it?

Size / Weight: 7" long (wearable) by 1 1/4" wide; 106.2 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker's initials badly stamped as shown as well as "MEXICO TAXCO 925"; please note that the safety chain seems to be a later addition and it is plated; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage with stunning design, quite substantial in weight yet comfortable to wear, with beautifully colored amethysts, glowing patina and no damage or repairs noted
